Kinney Redding was a 4-year letter winner for the Griffon football team from 1974-77. Redding earned honorable mention All-America honors in 1975-76, anchoring the Griffon defensive line. He led Western in total tackles in 1976 with 136 stops and ranked second on the team in tackles in 1975 with 142 tackles and eight quarterback sacks. In 1977, Redding was second on the team in tackles with 110 total, 53 solo and 57 assists and led the Griffons in quarterback sacks with nine. Kinney was a NAIA First-Team, All-America selection on the defensive line at Western in 1977.

Kinney received an A.S. in Criminal Justice from Missouri Western State University and a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Georgia State University. He received his certification in Pastoral Counseling from the Culver Institute in Austell, Georgia, and received an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Malachi Bible College, in St. Louis, Mo. He is enrolled in a Doctorate of Divinity program with Christian Leadership University, Cheektowaga, New York.

Kinney is currently employed with General Electric in Atlanta, Georgia. Kinney and his wife, Cynthia, have three children, Dwayne, Kevi and Kristopher.
