Jay Randall, born in St. Joseph, Missouri, transferred to Missouri Western after his freshman year at the University of Kansas in 1975. He was a three-year letter winner in football. Upon graduation he attended CMSU and obtained a MS in Industrial Safety and Health.
Jay held the single game rushing record at Missouri Western for 19 years. He rushed for 276 yards on 37 carries in the Boot Hill Bowl victory over Benedictine in 1977. Jay was named the Most Valuable Offensive player of the Boot Hill Bowl. Tony Williams broke his record when he rushed for 283 against Missouri Rolla
in 1996. He also held the single season rushing record (1,125 yards) in 1977 for two seasons until Rodney Stephenson rushed for 1,298 in 1979. Currently, Jay ranks eleventh on the Griffon all-time rushing list with 1,583 yards.
Jay began a career with Hartford Insurance Company immediately after college and worked for 19 years in various positions, ending his Hartford experience in 1997 as a National Account Manager.
In 1997, he accepted a position with Liberty Mutual, one of the top 10 domestic Insurance companies and 111 on the Forbes 500. Jay started as a Managing Director in Liberty Mutual national markets responsible for sales and service to large commercial accounts in the Southwest. Within 3 years, Jay was promoted to Vice President and Regional Managing Director. In May of 2002, Jay was promoted to Sr.Vice President, General Manager, responsible for sales and service for the western half of the United States.
