Rick Leahy has been an avid supporter of Griffon Athletics for many years working numerous athletic events and overseeing many upgrades to technical operations at Western’s athletic venues.
 
In 1977, Leahy was the consultant on the installation of the first Spratt Stadium sound system. The following year, Leahy provided technical support for live radio broadcasts for football and basketball contests and assisted with the installation of the delay-of-game clocks at Spratt Stadium. He has also assisted on numerous other sound system upgrades to Spratt Stadium and the Looney Complex over the years.
 
Leahy provided technical assistance to the media staff for both men’s and women’s NCAA South Central Basketball Regional’s, which were held in St. Joseph, assisted with the installation of the Spratt Stadium scoreboard and message center and designed and assisted with the installation of the softball complex sound system.
 
In 2003-04, Leahy provided technical assistance to media and ESPN Live Broadcasts of the NCAA Women’s Division II Elite Eight Basketball Championships.  Rick also helped coordinate many other aspects of the championship including; telephone, internet and electrical needs for live radio broadcasters and on-site media and designed and installed press row with stat monitors, audio and power.
 
Leahy also produced and directed live web casts for home football and basketball games. These games were carried live over MIAA TV and Penn Atlantic. Leahy retired from Missouri Western in February 2008 after 35 years of service.
 
Leahy and wife Murla reside in St. Joseph.
