Tony Franklin started his career at Missouri Western playing running back during his first three seasons. In the spring of 1981 Franklin moved to linebacker where he had an immediate impact. During the 1982 season Franklin was the CSIC Defensive Player of the Week five times and was the NAIA District 16 Defensive Player of the Week four times. In September of 1982, Franklin was presented the Athlete of the Month award by Fedelity Union Life Insurance.
 
In 1983 Franklin made an even bigger impact on the field as he was Westerns’ Most Valuable Defensive Player and the Most Improved Player for the Griffons. For his efforts, he was a First Team All-CSIC and First Team All-NAIA District 16 selection and was also an Honorable Mention KODAK Little All-American selection.  Following the season, Franklin signed to play in the USFL with the Boston Beakers.
 
Franklin began his professional career in the auto industry at St. Joseph dealership Interstate Ford in 1984 working his way to his current position as Managing Partner-General Manager for Anderson Auto Group in St. Joseph, Mo.
 
Franklin and his wife Karen, reside in St. Joseph with their three children; Kelsi Jo, Molly and Ty.
