Brooks Barkley was the first baseball player in Missouri Western history to be honored with All-America status as an NCAA institution.

He began his college career at MWSU in 2001 and left his mark on the Griffon record book in several categories. In 2002 he led the MIAA in batting, becoming the MIAA Batting Champion with a sizzling .422 batting average, and setting a new standard for hitters at MWSU. That record stood for 10 years before being broken this past spring by Michael Schulze.

In 2002, Barkley was second in the MIAA in Doubles with 21, sixth in RBI’s with 48, eighth in triples with six and 16th in hits with 65. For his career, at MWSU, he is second all-time with a .383 batting average.

Following the 2002 season, Brooks was named to the All-MIAA First Team as an outfielder, was an All-Central Region selection and named to the NCAA Division II All-America Team.

Brooks graduated in 2003 with a degree in Business Management. He owns and operates Barkley Floor Service. Brooks and his wife, Renee, currently reside in Orting, Washington with their two children, Laney is 6 and Boston is 4.
