Mike Musser was a 4-year letter winner for the Western baseball team. Musser earned All-CSIC honors, NAIA All-District 16 and NAIA All-Area honors in 1982-83. In 1983, Mike received NAIA First-Team, All-America honors at 3rd base for the Griffons.

Musser’s name continues to hold firm in the Western baseball recordbook. Mike holds MWSU career records for runs batted in (137) and home runs (24) and the St. Joseph native set MWSU single season records for games played with 67, runs batted in with 59 and his 11 homeruns rank 2nd - all set during the 1982 season. Musser’s 1982 Griffon team continues to hold single season team records for games played (69), at bats (1,940), runs scored (387), hits (564), runs batted in (344), doubles (108) and stolen bases (100).

Mike graduated from Missouri Western in 1983. Currently, Mike is a Marketing Education teacher at Benton High School in St. Joseph where he has served as the Head Baseball Coach for 19 years. He was also an assistant football coach for 18 years, and is in his 2nd season as the assistant softball coach. Mike was named the St. Joseph Sports Foundation Coach of the Year in 2005, and was the runner-up in 2004.

Mike and his wife, Lisa, reside in St. Joseph, Missouri. They have three children, Nick, Jenni, and Kenzie.
