Deena Murphy was a two sport athlete at Missouri Western where she was a member of the softball and women’s basketball teams. Murphy was a four year starter and 2-time All-American (1984-85) at second base and was the starting second basemen for the 1982 NAIA National Champion softball team.
 
Murphy finished her senior season leading the team in runs scored, walks and stolen bases. She finished her career with 143 hits, which ranks her eighth all-time and had a batting average of over .400 during the regular season in 1985.
 
Murphy was a four year member of the Western women’s basketball team where she was an All-Conference Honorable Mention selection, while leading the CSIC conference with an average of 4.5 assists per game her senior season. Murphy was also the president of the Western Athletic Association.
 
After graduating from MWSU, Murphy worked for three years with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation as a liquidation technician in Omaha, Neb. Murphy then went to First Data Resources in Omaha, Neb. Over the next twenty years at FDR, she moved from reporting analyst, to product control accountant, to manager of reporting and planning before being promoted to a director’s position. Murphy is currently a Director of Financial Planning and Analysis with IntegriGuard, a company located in Omaha, Neb. that contracts with the federal government to safeguard the integrity and insure payment accuracy of federal health care programs such as Medicare and Medicaid.
 
Murphy is the fourth out of five siblings who all live in Omaha and is a proud aunt of five nephews and two nieces.
