PITTSBURG, Kan. – Griffon Track & Field is set for the 2026 MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, taking place Friday, May 1 through Sunday, May 3 at Carnie Smith Stadium at the Pitt State Outdoor Track Facility. The three-day meet brings together the top talent from across the conference as MoWest looks to make its mark in both track and field events.
The Griffons will be active across all three days, beginning Friday with key opportunities in distance and field events.
Abbey Henry opens competition in the long jump, while
Kelsi Fair and
Dawson Miller compete in the hammer throw. On the track,
Abby Kinney and
Logan Soedt will represent MoWest in the 10,000 meters.
Saturday shifts focus to preliminary races and specialty events. Multiple Griffons will take the track in the 800-meter prelims, including
Meagan Smith,
Bailey Cutler,
Yesenia Carillo,
Angelo Baez-Mahr and
Dylan Stout, all aiming to advance to Sunday's finals. The steeplechase will also be a focal point with
Henry Trumpp,
Usman Tufa and
Pau Valderrama competing for strong finishes.
Championship Sunday will feature a full slate of finals and field event finals.
Abbey Henry returns for the triple jump, while
Kelsi Fair and
Dawson Miller compete in the shot put. The javelin group includes
Maddie McMillan,
Abby Molloy,
Dawson Miller and
Tate Youtsey.
On the track, several Griffons will look to score in finals action. The 800-meter finals will highlight the weekend if qualifiers advance, while
Meagan Smith will also compete in the 1,500 meters. Distance events will be key, with
Abby Kinney,
Sam Shipp,
Mason Orscheln,
Usman Tufa,
Pau Valderrama and
Kayden Crigger competing in the 5,000 meters. Additional entries include
Ryan Ringgenberg in the 1,500 meters.
