ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Griffon Track & Field returns to action this weekend with a split meet slate, competing at the Kip Janvrin Open on Friday in Indianola, Iowa, before heading to the ZK Invite on Saturday in Baldwin City, Kansas. The Griffons continue their outdoor campaign looking to build momentum, post strong marks, and fine-tune performances as the season moves closer to the championship stretch.
Friday's Kip Janvrin Open will feature a strong distance and sprint group, highlighted by
Dylan Stout,
Aidan Jumper, and
Kayden Crigger in the middle-distance events, while
Ryan Ringgenberg joins the 1500-meter field. The distance crew of
Sam Shipp,
Logan Soedt,
Adam Ducey, and
Levi Huber will compete in the 5,000 meters, alongside
Jade Wickwire and
Hailey McKinney on the women's side.
Usman Tufa and
Henry Trumpp are set for the steeplechase, while
Yesenia Carillo (200/400) and
Maizie Hageman and
Brianna DeBord (800) round out the track events.
"Simpson is usually a bigger meet, allowing some athletes to get either a great last race in or a solid tune-up for conference a week later," said interim head coach
Sean Gosewisch. "We'll take advantage of the opportunity."
On Saturday, the Griffon throwers will compete at the ZK Invite hosted by Baker University.
Dawson Miller leads the group in the shot put, hammer throw, and javelin, joined by
