Track and Field began outdoor season at ESU Spring Open and WashU Distance Carnival

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Griffon Men's and Women's Track and Field opened the outdoor season with a split squad on Friday, March 27, competing at the ESU Spring Open and the WashU Distance Carnival.

At the WashU Distance Carnival, MoWest competed in a deep distance field. In the men's 5,000 meters, Pau Valderrama led the way with a time of 14:38.95 to finish 32nd. Kayden Crigger followed in 14:53.20 (63rd), while Usman Tufa clocked 15:06.96. Sam Shipp (15:19.66) and Logan Soedt (15:33.29) each recorded personal bests. In the men's 10,000 meters, Mason Orscheln posted a time of 32:32.14.

At the ESU Spring Open, Ryan Ringgenberg paced the Griffons in the men's 5,000 meters, placing seventh with a time of 15:37.16. Henry Trumpp finished 10th in 15:58.79, followed by Adam Ducey (16:55.39) and Levi Huber (17:37.93). On the women's side, Jade Wickwire placed fourth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 19:27.61.

On the track, Yesenia Carrillo ran 27.01 in the 200 meters and 1:01.65 in the 400 meters, while Brianna DeBord added a 1:10.01 in the 400. In the men's 800 meters, Dylan Stout led MoWest at 2:01.60, followed by Aidan Jumper in 2:09.23. Meagan Smith paced the women's 800 meters in 2:28.50, with Bailey Cutler finishing in 2:32.57.

The women's 4x400 relay placed fourth with a time of 4:27.83.

In the field events, Dawson Miller recorded a throw of 50.16 meters in the hammer (12th) and added a mark of 49.75 meters in the javelin (19th). Tate Youtsey (43.98m) and Jackson Sigrist (36.00m) also competed in the javelin.

On the women's side, Kelsi Fair posted marks of 40.44 meters in the hammer and 11.39 meters in the shot put, while Abbey Henry recorded 11.28 meters in the triple jump. In the women's javelin, Maddison McMillian led the group with a throw of 38.11 meters, followed by Abby Molloy (29.01m) and Taylor Wood (21.92m).

What's Next
Griffon Track and Field continues the outdoor season next weekend at the Midwest Classic & Multis in Emporia, Kansas. Competition begins Friday, April 3 at 10 a.m. and continues Saturday, April 4 with a 10 a.m. start.
