INDIANOLA, Iowa. - Griffon Track & Field competed Friday at the Kip Janvrin Open in Indianola, Iowa, turning in strong performances across distance and sprint events at Buxton Stadium.
"I was proud of the way the athletes attacked their respective races today," said interim head coach Sean Gosewisch. "Many are walking away with a lifetime best or very near it. It was a good confidence boost and tune-up leading into the all-important conference meet next week."
Usman Tufa led the way in the men's 3000m steeplechase, placing sixth with a time of 9:20.58. Henry Trumpp also competed in the event, finishing in 9:51.43.
In the men's 5000m, Sam Shipp paced the Griffons with a time of 15:09.59, followed by Logan Soedt at 15:26.07. Adam Ducey crossed in 16:37.93, while Levi Huber finished in 17:36.23.
On the women's side of the 5000m, Jade Wickwire posted a time of 19:09.95.
Yesenia Carillo delivered a solid sprint performance, placing 18th in the 200m (26.53) and cracking the top 10 in the 400m with a 10th-place finish in 1:00.54.
In the middle-distance events, Dylan Stout led the men's 800m group with a time of 1:59.06, while Aidan Jumper followed in 2:04.09. On the women's side, MJ Hageman ran 2:32.30 and Brianna DeBord finished in 2:48.43.
The men's 1500m featured a strong effort from Kayden Crigger, who broke the four-minute barrier with a 3:58.26 finish. Ringgenberg added a 4:05.67, while Stout (4:11.59) and Jumper (4:13.86) rounded out the Griffon lineup.
