Sean Gosewisch

Sean Gosewisch first came to MoWest as the assistant cross country and track and field coach in July 2024. In August 2025, Gosewisch was named as the interim track and cross country coach before becoming the permanet head coach for both track and cross country in May 2026.

Since Gosewisch arrived in St. Joseph, Griffon Cross Country garnered three all-MIAA honors and saw Wimach Gilo reach the national cross country meet in 2025 - the first Griffon Cross Country runner to achieve that feat. Wimach was also named first team all-region in cross country 2025 under Gosewisch's tutelage.

In track, Gosewisch has helped coach three Griffons to all-MIAA status, two to All-American status and four reach USTFCCCA all-region outdoor status in 2025. He helped four athletes qualify for the NCAA Outdoor National meet in 2025 - Wimach Gilo, Lucas Trotter, Makenzie Garr and Pau Valderrama.

Garr and Trotter came home as outdoor All-Americans in 2025 - both in shot put. Garr was first team, while Trotter was second.

Gosewisch also helped Garr reach first team all-MIAA and first team all-America honors in indoor shotput in 2026.

Gosewisch brings over 10 years of coaching experience, serving as a head coach, assistant coach and graduate assistant. He holds a USATF Level 1 Certification and USTFCCCA Level 3 Endurance Specialist Certification.

His most recent position before MoWest was at NCAA Division II Tusculum University in Greenville, Tennessee, where he worked for two years with the Pioneers as an assistant coach for two years. Before that, Gosewisch was the head cross country and assistant track and field coach at NAIA William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa, from 2011 to 2021.

The Lockport, Illinois native obtained a bachelor's degree in history with a minor in French from Southern Illinois-Edwardsville in 2010 and later earned a master's in business leadership from William Penn University in 2013.

Gosewisch resides in St. Joseph with his wife, Katie, and their daugher Genevieve.
