EDMOND, Okla. -
Tim Johnston carded a career-best third place finish, while Griffon Men's Golf placed 14th out of 18 teams in the Oak Tree Invitational at Oak Tree Country Club in Edmond, Oklahoma.
On a windy Tuesday, Johnston followed up a strong showing in round one with a 73 (+3) in round two, birdying on holes 1, 8 and 12. He finished with a two-round total of 144 (+4) - just three strokes behind winner Juan Monckeberg of Texas A&M-International.
West Texas A&M won the event as a team with a total score of 588 (+28). MoWest carded a 627 (+67) - eight strokes outside of the top ten.
Parker Boggins tied for 24th with a two-round score of 151 (+11), shooting a 76 (+6) on Tuesday.
Tommy McDowell tied for 37th with a total score of 154 (+14). He birdied twice Tuesday for a second round score of 78 (+8).
Bennett Berger tied for 67th with a two-round total of 159 (+19). He birided on 5 and 12 Tuesday as well.
Aiden Asby tied for 79th with a final score of 163 (+23).
Ethan Mustard tied for 86th with a 165 (+25).
Men's golf is back at it March 30-31 at the Silverback Invite at Crestwood Country Club in Pittsburg, Kansas.
