Griffon Track & Field wraps up Last Chance Meet as Garr wins Shot Put in Maryville

MARYVILLE, Mo. – Griffon Track & Field competed at the Northwest Tune Up Last Chance Meet on Thursday, Feb. 19, turning in strong performances across both the track and field events.

Makenzie Garr led the way in the throws, winning the women's shot put with a Division II provisional mark of 14.97 meters (49-1.50). She added a runner-up finish in the weight throw at 17.69 meters (58-0.50), another provisional mark that ranks No. 28 nationally.

On the men's side in the throws, Dawson Miller placed ninth in the shot put with a mark of 13.45 meters (44-1.50) and finished second in the men's weight throw invite with a toss of 18.30 meters (60-0.50), ranking No. 50 in Division II. Kelsi Fair added a third-place finish in the women's shot put (12.30m / 40-4.25) and placed fourth in the weight throw (15.26m / 50-0.75). Maddison McMillian recorded a mark of 7.98 meters (26-2.25) in the shot put.

On the track, Yesenia Carrillo posted a strong second-place finish in the women's 600 yards with a time of 1:30.67. In the women's 800 meters, Bailey Cutler placed fifth in 2:28.23, followed closely by MJ Hageman in sixth at 2:29.68.

In the men's 800 meters, Angelo Baez Mahr led the Griffons with a time of 1:57.56, while Dylan Stout clocked in at 1:58.44 and Aidan Jumper finished in 2:07.75.

Adam Ducey paced the men in the mile with a time of 4:43.35, followed by Levi Huber at 4:47.61. On the women's side, Kaleigh Harvey recorded a 6:08.45 in the mile.

Abby Molloy competed in the women's 60-meter prelims, crossing in 8.99, while Brianna DeBord posted a time of 1:09.40 in the women's 400 meters.

Interim head coach Sean Gosewisch shared his thoughts post-meet:
"For a small crew, we were very successful in what we set out to accomplish. Many athletes put themselves in a better position for the conference meet through improved performances. And as always, Makenzie being dominant is a blast. We look forward to the MIAA Championships next week."
