ST. JOSEPH, Mo.- Griffon Track & Field travels to Maryville on Thursday for the Northwest Tune-Up – Last Chance Meet, a key opportunity for select student-athletes to post qualifying marks and strengthen their position heading into the conference championships.
The Griffons will send a focused group to compete in a variety of events. On the men's side, Angelo Baez-Mahr and Aidan Jumper will compete in the 800 meters, while Dylan Stout also lines up in the 800. Adam Ducey and Levi Huber are entered in the mile and 5,000 meters. Dawson Miller will represent the Griffons in the shot put and weight throw.
For the Griffon women, Yesenia Carrillo will race in the 600 meters, with Bailey Cutler and Maddie McMillan set to compete in the 800. Brianna DeBord is entered in the 400 meters, and Kaleigh Harvey will run the mile. In the field events, Kelsi Fair, Makenzie Garr, and Maddison McMillian will compete in the shot put, with Garr also throwing the weight. Abby Molloy will compete in both the 60 meters and the shot put.
Interim head coach Sean Gosewisch emphasized the importance of the meet heading into the postseason.
"This meet is a last chance for some athletes to crack into the conference meet or put themselves in a better position," Gosewisch said. "It isn't a huge crew, but it's an important competition that I expect to go well."
With championship season approaching, Thursday's meet provides one final opportunity for the Griffons to fine-tune performances and chase qualifying standards.
