Stephens Elevated to Associate Athletic Trainer

She was previously an assistant athletic trainer for the Griffons

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Missouri Western Athletics, in conjunction with Mosaic Life Care, has named Ashley Stephens as the new associate athletic trainer for the university. Stephens was previously an assistant athletic trainer before the promotion, working with the lacrosse, tennis, track and field and volleyball teams.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to take a larger role in developing our sports medicine department," Stephens commented on the promotion. "With new leadership, we've made some changes and I'm excited to further join their efforts in serving our athletes the best we can."

A graduate of Truman State with a master's in athletic training, she has a wealth of experience in the field. Prior to joining Missouri Western, she served as the head athletic trainer at Advance Physical Therapy in Hannibal from 2020 to 2022.

"I am excited for Ashley as she accepts additional responsibility," stated MWSU Director of Athletics Andy Carter. "Her work ethic and care for our students led to an easy decision to promote her into this leadership position."

"I firmly believe promoting from within is the best option," Head Athletic Trainer Rachel Petty commented. "Ashley has exhibited exceptional ability as a candidate for this position, and fostering our own talent is an effective method for continuing to elevate the sports medicine program and the partnership with Mosaic Life Care."

She is also certified in Dry Needling, BOC, CPR, AED and first aid. Additionally, she is a member of NATA.
