Curtis Zahnd Named Assistant AD for Development

life-long St. Joseph resident will handle corporate sponsorships for MoWest Athletics

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – MoWest Director of Athletics Andy Carter has announced the appointment of Curtis Zahnd as the assistant director of athletics development.

The St. Joseph native brings more than 30 years of sales management and customer service experience in the region and will serve as Griffon Athletics' primary fundraiser specializing in corporate partnerships.

"We are excited to have Curtis join the Griffon family in an official capacity," Carter said. "He is a known commodity and highly respected member of the St. Joseph community with the unique and authentic ability to build bridges and connect with people. Curtis brings a built-in passion for Griffon Athletics, which makes him a tremendous fit for this new direction."

Zahnd, a member of the MWSU Athletics Gold Coat Board, has moonlighted as the primary public address announcer for Griffon football and basketball games for the past four seasons.

"I have truly valued my connection with Griffon Athletics over the years," Zahnd said. "Those experiences have been truly meaningful, and I am deeply grateful for the relationships and memories they have provided. I want to thank Andy Carter for this opportunity. It's a great time to be a Griffon and I am excited to share my passion for MWSU with the St. Joseph community and our partners."

The development position marks the athletic department's return to a traditional in-house corporate sponsorship liaison. The university previously employed Peak Sports Management as a third-party partner from 2019 to 2026.
