ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — MoWest Athletics and Mosaic Life Care Sports Medicine have announced the addition of MaKayla Trudeau as an Assistant Athletic Trainer. Trudeau will work primarily with the Griffon volleyball and lacrosse programs.

Trudeau joins the Griffons after earning her Master of Science in Athletic Training from California State University Long Beach in May 2026. She previously earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from California State University Fullerton in May 2024 and became a Certified Athletic Trainer in June 2026.

During her time at Long Beach State, Trudeau gained experience working with men's and women's volleyball, cross country and other student-athletes. While working with the men's volleyball and cross country programs, she assisted with injury evaluations, rehabilitation programs, injury prevention and return-to-play planning. She also worked with performance and rehabilitation technology, including VALD performance testing and Blood Flow Restriction training.

Trudeau also gained experience at Mater Dei High School, where she worked alongside certified athletic trainers providing care for approximately 1,900 student-athletes across 28 sports. Her responsibilities included injury evaluations, hydration management, treatment plans, injury prevention and communication with coaches, parents and medical staff.

Her additional clinical experience includes time with Mount San Antonio College track and field, Orange Coast College and Long Beach State women's volleyball.
Trudeau also completed a summer football internship with UCLA Sports Medicine in 2025. During the internship, she assisted with treatments, hydration and daily athletic training room operations while gaining experience with equipment including VALD force decks, AlterG, Catapult and HydroWorx.

In addition to her clinical experience, Trudeau served as the District 8 student representative on the NATA Student Leadership Committee and was Co-President of the Long Beach Sports Medicine Club.

Trudeau begins her role with MoWest Athletics on August 10 and will provide athletic training coverage for Griffon volleyball and lacrosse as part of the Mosaic Life Care Sports Medicine team.
