ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Griffon Soccer (12-2-7, 6-2-4 MIAA), the No. 5 seed, will meet No. 4 seed and conference foe Washburn (11-3-4, 8-0-4 MIAA) in the first round of the 2025 DII Women's Soccer Championship on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Maverick Soccer Complex at The Pitch in Mankato, Minnesota.
The Griffons earned an automatic NCAA bid after knocking off Central Oklahoma, 2–1, in an overtime thriller to win the MIAA tournament title on Saturday in Wichita, Kansas.
No. 16 Washburn Ichabods, ranked in the United Soccer Coaches' Poll, rolled through the MIAA regular season unbeaten before being upset 3–2 by No. 7 seed Emporia State in the first round.
It marks the second meeting this season between the Griffons and the Ichabods, as their Nov. 2 regular-season contest at Spratt Stadium finished in a 0–0 stalemate.
Friday's first-round matchup will be the 30th all-time meeting between the Griffons and the Ichabods, and the first ever played on the NCAA tournament stage. It also marks the first time MoWest has faced an MIAA opponent in the national tournament. The Griffons enter seeking their first victory against the Ichabods since October 2021.

No. 1 seed Minnesota State, serving as the regional host, is set to face No. 8 seed Harding on Friday at 1 p.m. The advancing teams from each matchup will square off on Sunday, November 23 at 1 p.m. in the second round.
