NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Walter Camp Foundation unveiled its first-ever Division II All-America Football Teams on Wednesday, and senior kicker
Cody Watson earned a spot on the first team.
This marks Watson's second All-America honor this season, becoming the first kicker named to the All-America First Team since NFL kicker Greg Zuerlein in 2011. With this selection, he will be forever known as the inaugural Walter Camp Division II All-America First Team kicker.
A native of Yukon, Oklahoma, he has garnered several accolades this season. He was recognized as an Honorable Mention on the Don Hansen All-America list, secured a spot on the All-Super Region 3 Second Team and was named to the All-MIAA First Team.
In addition to his athletic accomplishments, he was honored for his academic success by the MIAA, receiving the MIAA Academic Excellence Award for achieving a perfect 4.00 GPA and being named the "A Game" Student-Athlete of the 2024 football season. Just earlier this week, he was selected to the CSC Academic All-District Team and will advance to the All-America ballot.
During the 2024 season, Watson achieved a field goal conversion rate of 76.19%, successfully making kicks from 53, 52, 49 and 48 yards. He is the first Griffon since Zuerlein in 2011 to successfully convert multiple field goals exceeding 50 yards within a single season. Furthermore, Watson concluded his career with a school record of 42 field goals and equaled the record for the most successful point-after attempts at 122.
