Three in first 25 top Griffons

BOLIVAR, MO. – Recently-minted all-MIAA third team selection Saya Schweitzer was part of a trio guiding Missouri Western State University Monday, April 22.

The Anglet, France, native birdied No. 6 during the opening round of the 2024 MIAA Championships at Silo Ridge Country Club, as part of a blistering two-over 38 on the front nine. Despite a five-over 41 on the back, she found herself tied for 20th individually (79). Fellow sophomore Ines Vandaele (Puilboreau, France) was even on the front to spotlight a 78 and tie for 12th. Senior Julie Hofmanova's (Hyskov, Czech Republic) 80 left her within the first 25, too, tying for 24th.

Head coach Matt Thrasher's team put up a 319 at day's end. The Griffons' score left them sixth but less than five shots shy of the best five.

Second round action is set for Tuesday, April 23. Live scoring can be accessed via gogriffons.com.
