MONKEY ISLAND, Okla. – Griffon Women's Golf continued to show progress in round two of the Spring Regional Preview at Shangri-La Resort, improving significantly as a team heading into the final round.
MoWest cut 28 strokes off its opening-round score, improving from a 329 (+41) in round one to a 301 (+13) in round two. The strong second round moved the Griffons into 10th place overall with a two-day total of 630 (+54).
The improvement was highlighted by all five players lowering their scores from round one, led by double-digit stroke reductions from multiple golfers. The balanced effort across the lineup fueled one of the biggest team improvements in the field on day two.
MoWest was led by Makenna Casey, who fired a 76 (+4) in round two and sits at 154 (+10), currently tied for 29th overall after opening with a 78 (+6). Saya Schweitzer followed with a 74 (+2) in round two to move to 155 (+11), placing tied for 37th overall after carding an 81 (+9) in round one. Ines Vandaele added a 74 (+2) in round two and sits at 163 (+19), tied for 65th overall after an 89 (+17) in the opening round. Avery Wells posted a 77 (+5) in round two to reach 159 (+15), placing tied for 54th overall after an 82 (+10) in round one.
Lauren Mallow rounded out the lineup with a 78 (+6) in round two and sits at 166 (+22), tied for 72nd overall after an 88 (+16) in the first round.
