Ines Vandaele tied for 9th, and Griffon Women's Golf came home 8th out of 13 teams in the MIAA Women's Golf Championships, which concluded Wednesday at Mules National Golf Club in Warrensburg.
MoWest was 15 shots better in the third round compared to its second, compiling a team score of 314 (+34) Wednesday for a tournament total of 961 (+121). Nebraska-Kearney was the champion with a score of 907 (+67).
Vandaele improved by five strokes in the final round, shooting a 74 (+4) Wednesday, birdying on hole 3 and parring 12 other holes. Her three-round total came out to 229 (+19).
Avery Wells tied for 34th with a total score of 242 (+32). She birdied on 3.
Saya Schweitzer improved by eight strokes in the third round and tied for 39th with a 244 (+34). She shot a 76 (+6) for her best round of the tournament. Schweitzer also had a birdie on the third hole.
Makenna Casey ended up 44th with a 246 (+36). She ended her round with birdies on 17 and 18.
Lauren Mallow improved by five strokes Wednesday for a tournament total of 266 (+56). She birdied on 9 and 18.
MoWest now waits to see if they have officially qualified for the NCAA Central Region tournament, which will be hosted at St. Joseph Country Club May 4-6. The regional selections will be posted to NCAA.com on Sunday, April 26.
