EMPORIA, Kan. – Griffon Track & Field opened action Thursday at the Midwest Classic & Multis Day One at Francis G. Welch Stadium on the Emporia State University campus.
In the women's javelin, Maddison McMillian recorded a 10th-place finish with a top throw of 40.00m (131-02) to lead MWSU.
Abby Molloy added a 22nd-place finish with a mark of 33.68m (110-06), while
Taylor Wood did not compete.
On the men's side,
Tate Youtsey led the way with a 15th-place finish after a throw of 52.11m (170-11).
Dawson Miller followed in 16th with a mark of 50.51m (165-08), while
Jackson Sigrist placed 24th with a throw of 35.84m (117-07).
Interim head coach
Sean Gosewisch shared his thoughts after day one, noting the javelin group performed well with multiple athletes recording lifetime bests, while McMillian placed among the top 10. He added it was a strong start to the competition for the Griffons.
