Griffon Track & Field completes at the MIAA Outdoor Championships

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Griffon Track & Field wrapped up competition at the 2026 MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held May 1–3 at the Russ Jewett Outdoor Track & Field Complex, with several strong performances across distance and field events.

MoWest was led by Pau Valderrama, who turned in a pair of scoring performances over the weekend. The junior placed sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:10.55) to earn three team points before adding another standout finish in the 5,000 meters, placing fifth in 14:38.26 for four more points.

In the distance events, Usman Tufa added a 10th-place finish in the steeplechase (9:22.94) and matched that effort with another 10th-place showing in the 5,000 meters (15:08.62). Logan Soedt delivered a solid run in the 10,000 meters, finishing 14th in 33:20.33, while Abby Kinney led the women's side in the event with a 16th-place finish (38:19.11) before also competing in the 5,000 meters, placing 22nd in 18:50.49.

The Griffons also saw contributions in the middle-distance races, with Kayden Crigger placing 10th in the 1,500 meters (3:58.33) and Ryan Ringgenberg finishing 21st in 4:06.75. In the 800-meter prelims, Dylan Stout posted a time of 1:59.03, while Yesenia Carillo (2:19.88), Meagan Smith (2:22.35), and Bailey Cutler (2:23.03) all competed on the women's side.

In the field events, Tate Youtsey led the way in the javelin with a throw of 49.27 meters, placing 18th, while Dawson Miller added a 20th-place finish at 46.10 meters. Miller also competed in the hammer throw, placing 17th with a mark of 45.87 meters, and in the shot put, finishing 19th at 13.37 meters. On the women's side, Maddison McMillian placed 16th in the javelin with a throw of 38.05 meters, followed by Abby Molloy in 18th at 34.15 meters.

Kelsi Fair recorded a pair of top-20 finishes, placing 20th in the hammer throw at 45.65 meters and delivering a top-10 performance in the shot put, finishing ninth with a mark of 12.91 meters. Abbey Henry added strong efforts in the jumps, finishing 10th in the triple jump at 11.07 meters and 15th in the long jump at 5.22 meters.
