BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Griffon Track & Field's throwing group competed Saturday at the ZK Invite at Liston Stadium, turning in a series of solid performances in the shot put, hammer throw, and javelin as the team continues to build toward the MIAA Championships.
The Griffons turned in a strong showing in the javelin throw on both the men's and women's sides.
On the men's side,
Tate Youtsey led the way with a third-place finish, recording a top throw of 51.50 meters (169-0) and posting multiple strong attempts over 50 meters.
Dawson Miller followed with a seventh-place finish at 49.32 meters (161-10), while
Jackson Sigrist placed 17th with a mark of 36.43 meters (119-6).
For the women, Maddison McMillian earned an eighth-place finish with a leading throw of 38.44 meters (126-1), continuing her strong season.
Abby Molloy placed 11th with a mark of 36.16 meters (118-8), and
Taylor Wood finished 22nd with a throw of 28.94 meters (94-11).
Kelsi Fair placed 8th in the shot put with a mark of 11.45m (37-6.75), hitting the same distance on two of her attempts.
In the hammer throw, Fair finished 7th with a top mark of 43.20m (141-9.00), leading her series with a strong throw in the middle rounds.
On the men's side, Miller recorded a 5th-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 14.18m (46-6.25), delivering his top throw in the later rounds of competition.
Miller also competed in the hammer throw, placing 10th with a best mark of 44.09m (144-8.00).

Griffon Track & Field will compete at the MIAA Outdoor Championships, set for May 1–3 in Pittsburg, Kansas, at Carnie Smith Stadium.
