Box Score TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Griffon Baseball (10-16, 5-10 MIAA) traded momentum throughout the game, but Northeastern State (9-18, 4-11 MIAA) capitalized late to secure an 11-9 win.
MoWest struck first in the second inning when
Seth Winkler launched a solo home run, and
Carson Shear added another solo shot in the third to give the Griffons a 2-0 lead.
NSU answered in the fourth with a two-run homer to even the score, but the Griffons responded in the fifth.
Micah Kobuszewski drove in a run with a single before
Miguel Cantu followed with a two-run home run to push the lead to 5-2.
The RiverHawks chipped away with a solo homer in the fifth and tied the game in the sixth with a two-run blast. NSU then took its first lead in the seventh on an RBI walk, making it 6-5.
MoWest regained momentum in the eighth inning as Shear delivered a two-run double to right center, followed by a sacrifice fly from Kobuszewski to extend the lead to 8-6.
However, NSU responded with a big inning in the bottom half, highlighted by a grand slam that flipped the game and gave the RiverHawks an 11-8 advantage.
The Griffons pushed across one final run in the ninth on an RBI single from
Jordan Austin, but couldn't complete the comeback.

The Griffons will look to secure the series win in a decisive Game 3 matchup against Northeastern State on Sunday, with first pitch set for 1 p.m. in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
