TAHLEQUAH, Okla.- Griffon Baseball (10-15, 5-9 MIAA) put together a dominant all-around performance, racking up 18 hits at the plate while the pitching staff controlled the game in a 14-2 win over Northeastern State (9-17, 4-10 MIAA).
MoWest got on the board early in the first, capitalizing on an error before
Jordan Austin delivered an RBI single to make it 2-0. The Griffons added another in the second on a sacrifice fly from
Miguel Cantu to extend the lead to 3-0.
After NSU pushed across a run in the second, the Griffons responded with a big third inning.
Ben Waliczek brought in a run with an RBI single, followed by a two-run double from
Micah Kobuszewski to stretch the advantage to 6-1. MoWest added another in the fourth to make it 7-1.
The RiverHawks got a solo home run in the fourth, but the Griffons answered once again. Kobuszewski stayed hot with an RBI triple in the fifth, and MoWest continued to take advantage of defensive miscues in the seventh to plate two more runs.
Miguel Cantu added an RBI triple later in the inning to push the lead to 11-2.
MoWest put the finishing touches on the win in the eighth, as Austin drove in a run with a sacrifice fly before
Dylan Coty delivered a two-run single to cap the scoring at 14-2.
On the mound,
Cole Evans set the tone with a strong outing, going 6.0 innings while allowing just two runs (one earned) on seven hits. He struck out 10 and did not issue a walk in a dominant performance to earn the win.
Lawson Minshew closed it out with 2.0 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit while striking out three to secure the victory.

MoWest continues its MIAA road series against Northeastern State with game two set for Saturday afternoon in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
