KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The MoWest men's basketball team has earned the #4 seed in the upcoming MIAA Basketball Championships to be held March 4th-8th in Kansas City's historic Municipal Auditorium. The matchup pits a battle of 20-win teams.
The Griffons (20-10 overall, 12-7 MIAA) will face #5 seed Arkansas Fort Smith (20-8, 11-8 MIAA) on Friday, March 6th in the tournament quarterfinals. That game will tip off at 6:00pm. In their lone meeting on February 17th, UAFS defeated MWSU 80-60 in St. Joseph.
With Saturday's 97-82 win at Newman, MoWest reached the 20-win plateau for the first time since the 2003 season. 2003 coincidentally marked the last time the Griffon men won the MIAA Tournament, which was played at the Municipal Auditorium for the first time that season.
Full session tickets for the 2026 MIAA Basketball Tournament, which include admission to all men's and women's game are available for purchase. Tickets are $60 when pre-purchased in person at MWSU, compared to $85 when bought through Ticketmaster or at the Municipal Auditorium box office.
Discounted full-session tickets (which have been on sale since early February) must be purchased in person at the Griffon Indoor Sports Complex by 6:00pm on Monday, March 2nd.
