TOPEKA, Kan. – Griffon Track & Field closed out a busy Saturday with competition split between the day two of the Washburn Open at the Sneed Indoor Athletic Facility and a one-day meet at the Grinnell Invitational in Grinnell, Iowa.

At the Grinnell Invitational, Yesenia Carrillo delivered the top track result of the day, placing third overall in the women's 400 meters with a time of 1:02.70.

Distance events highlighted the remainder of the meet in Grinnell, beginning with the men's 800 meters. Angelo Baez-Mahr finished 11th with a time of 2:03.70, while Dylan Stout followed in 13th at 2:04.14. In the men's mile, Logan Soedt placed eighth in 4:33.11, with Henry Trumpp close behind in ninth at 4:35.40. The pair doubled back in the men's 3,000 meters, where Trumpp finished fifth in 9:17.95 and Soedt took sixth at 9:23.43.

On the women's side, Kaleigh Harvey competed in both the mile and the 3,000 meters, placing 22nd in the mile with a time of 6:09.99 before finishing sixth in Section 1 of the 3,000 meters at 12:15.25. Levi Huber rounded out the distance events for the Griffons in the men's 5,000 meters, finishing 16th with a time of 17:36.77.

Field events at the Grinnell Invitational included the women's shot put, where Maddison McMillian recorded a throw of 7.99 meters to place 37th, followed by Abby Molloy in 39th with a mark of 7.83 meters.

Interim head coach Sean Gosewisch shared his thoughts following the weekend, "Makenzie was the highlight of the weekend. Winning the shot put and taking 3rd in the weight throw at a large event like this is always a nice honor and shows what a dominant athlete she is. It was good to get everyone back in action after last weekend, we still have work to do leading toward the conference meet."

Griffon Track & Field will compete next at the Bearcat Invite, scheduled for Friday–Saturday, Feb. 6–7, in Maryville, Mo.
