NEWTON, Kan. –
Saya Schweitzer claimed her first collegiate victory, and Griffon Women's Golf took first at the Newman Fall Invitational at Sand Creek Station Golf Club in Newton Tuesday.
This marks the first team win for women's golf since the NSIC Preview in April 2023.
The Griffons posted a two-round total of +20 (596), recording identical scores of 298–298 to secure the win by 14 shots. Nebraska Kearney finished runner-up at +34 (610), while Southwestern Oklahoma State placed third with a +36 (612).
Leading the way, Schweitzer captured medalist honors with a -6 (138). In round two, she carded birdies on holes two, five, nine and 14 to back up her strong opening round.
Schweitzer was joined in the top five by
Ines Vandaele, who shot +4 (148) to place 5th overall, highlighted by a birdie on hole seven during the final round.

Avery Wells (T-21st, +13 | 157), and
Makenna Casey (T-38th, +20 | 164), helping the Griffons secure the team crown.
The Griffons are back in action October 6–7 at the Grace Shin Invitational, hosted by Central Oklahoma at the Golf Club of Edmond in Edmond, Okla.
