Mahone, Garr earn CSC Academic All-American nod

The accomplished Griffon throwers add elite academic recognition to list of achievements.

AUSTIN, Tex. – Missouri Western track and field athletes Makenzie Garr and Allyssa Mahone earned a spot on the 2024-25 Academic All-America® women's track and field/cross country teams as selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC).
 
Mahone was a first-team selection, while Garr earned a spot on the third team.
 
Mahone finished carried a 4.00 GPA as a Business Administration major. Garr carried a 3.94 GPA, majoring in health and exercise science.
 
Mahone set a new school record in weight throw and captured her fourth NCAA Division II All-American honor during indoor nationals this past March with a throw of 63 feet-10.5 inches.
 
Garr became a first-team all-American for the first time in her career this past May, finishing fourth at outdoor nationals in shot put with a throw of 15.61 meters (51' 2.75"), becoming the first Griffon female athlete to earn first-team all-American status in shot put at outdoor nationals.
 
Mahone and Garr both earned USTFCCCA All-Region recognition during the indoor season, and both were named MIAA Scholar Athletes this past spring as well.
