KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) announced its 2024 Women's Cross Country Preseason Coaches' Poll, and Missouri Western was picked to finish tied for seventh.
MWSU recorded a seventh-place finish last year at the MIAA championships, with
Madison Nash tallying the highest individual finish of 14th at 22:17.73 in the 6000-meter. Pittsburg State - 143 points and 11 first-place votes - topped the poll after winning the conference meet last season.
The Griffons will begin racing next week in Ashland, Nebraska, at the Platte River Rumble "Gold" event, which is being held by Creighton University. Fans will have two opportunities to watch the Griffons compete at the MWSU Cross Country Course this season. They will be hosting the Griffon Invite on October 5 and the MIAA Championship on October 26.
