Rezac Joins MWSU as Director of Broadcasting

Radio Voice of the Griffons steps into newly-created position to enhance MIAA Network broadcasts

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Tommy Rezac, the radio voice of Missouri Western Athletics, will join the department full-time in the newly-established Director of Broadcasting position.

Rezac will play a key role in enhancing all Griffon sporting events broadcast on The MIAA Network, along with the launch of the department's online radio streaming service on gogriffons.com.

Missouri Western will produce close to 100 broadcasts on The MIAA Network and GLVC Network in 2024-25 and Rezac will provide play-by-play commentary for most all home sporting events (football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, baseball, softball and lacrosse). He will also provide online radio-play-by-play for all Griffon road basketball and football games. Rezac will produce feature content for gogriffons.com, and serve as the primary host for the new weekly "Griffon Sports Insider" podcast.

"This is a major win for Griffon Athletics," said "Director of Athletics Andy Carter. "For the past three seasons, Tommy has been a passionate voice for and of the Griffons. Bringing his skill set in-house opens so many doors for the future while continuing to expand our role as a leader in the digital space."

"We have built our digital brand over the years with an authentic, gritty and journalistic take on Griffon Athletics," said Senior Associate Athletic Director of External Relations, Ryan Menley. "Tommy's addition is the key piece to completing the puzzle. He is a talented storyteller with a crucial role of providing the soundtrack for *all* Griffon sports."

"I'm thrilled to continue my journey at a place that's enhanced my passion for college athletics and telling athletes' stories," Rezac said. I've loved my time in St. Joseph, including my three seasons with Missouri Western, and I'm so grateful that will continue! I want to thank Ryan Menley, Andy Carter and my entire Missouri Western family for being so welcoming, helpful and friendly to me. It's the people here who truly make this place special."

A multiple-time Missouri Broadcasters Association and Nebraska Broadcasters Association award winner, Rezac comes to Missouri Western after 3.5 years as sports director of KFEQ Radio and the St. Joseph Post. He's spent the last three years as radio voice of the Griffons on KFEQ. Rezac provided extensive coverage of Missouri Western athletics, as well as area high school sports, the Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp and many other local news and sports stories. Additionally, he has nearly seven years of collegiate play-by-play experience, having previously worked with Doane University (NAIA) in Nebraska and the University of Minnesota-Crookston.

"I want to thank everyone at Eagle Radio," Rezac said. "KFEQ is a legendary station and I'm so proud to have played a small part in its long history. I also want to thank the listeners, readers, coaches, athletes, parents and administrators from the area. I'll miss covering area high schools, the St. Joseph Mustangs, Chiefs training camp and other local sports, but I'll still be living and working in St. Joseph, covering the Griffons, and I'm so happy about that. The future of Missouri Western athletics is very bright, and I cannot wait to get to work! Go Griffs!"

Rezac is a native of Valparaiso, Nebraska. He lives in St. Joseph with his dog, Milo. His first day at Missouri Western is July 16.
