Griffons break two records at Friday Night Lights-Last Chance Meet

MARYVILLE, Mo. — Griffon Track & Field tallied seven first-place finishes and two program records this Friday night at the Friday Night Lights-Last Chance Meet inside Hughes Fieldhouse.

FIELD EVENTS - TOP-FIVE FINISHES/RECORDS
Allyssa Mahone took home first place in the women's weight throw with a 19.11-meter throw, breaking her school record and moving into third place in the country with an NCAA Division II provisional mark. Following up in third place, Samantha Cerra notched a distance of 16.33. Makenzie Garr took fourth with a throw of 15.67.

Mahone also took first in the women's shot put with a throw of 14.56, and Samantha Cerra placed third with a throw of 12.46m. In the men's triple jump, Tyrease Dutton-Bicalho placed first with a mark of 13.80, and Zach Palmer placed fifth thanks to a distance of 12.32.

FIELD EVENTS - TOP-FIVE FINISHES/RECORDS
In the men's 400-meter run, MJ Smith broke his own school record and bettered his DII provisional mark with a first-place time of 48.15. In the women's 400-meter run, Sydney Mcneeley placed third with a time of 1:02.26, and Makaila Traylor finished fourth with a time of 1:06.68.

Emma Schwinn took home first in women's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.65 seconds. In the men's 60-meter hurdles, Rhett Foster took home first place with a time of 8.30, and Alex Thompson finished third with a time of 8.46.

In the women's 60-meter run, Sidney Holt finished second with a time of 7.78. Holt also took second as well with a time of 25.74 seconds. Haley Sampson placed fourth In the women's 200-meter run with a time of 26.15.

Ethan Burton finished fourth with a time of 7.14 in the men's 60-meter run. Sawyer Morrow placed fifth in the men's 200-meter run with a time of 22.73.

In the men's 600-yard run, Deiondre Williams placed third with a time of 1:13.74. Bailey Cutler took home third in the women's 800-meter run with a time of 2:27.99.

Joshua Zachary placed second with a time of 1:59.37 in the men's 800-meter run, and Corbin Cera finished in fifth place with a time of 2:01.96. In the women's one-mile race, Abby Kinney placed third at 5:13.39, and Lillian Cutler placed fifth at 5:18.72.

Peter Cuddy placed second with a time of 4:27.29 in the men's mile run. In the men's 3,000-meter race, several Griffs placed in the top five. Ryan Ringgenberg took home first place with a time of 8:42.26, Mason McCain placed third at 8:59.30 and finishing in fourth with a time of 9:00.14 is Ethan Mesenbrink

Western will next compete in the MIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships from March 7-9 at the Washburn Indoor Athletic Facility in Topeka, Kansas.
