MWSU Track & Field teams wrap up day one at Bearcat Invite

The Missouri Western track & field teams wrapped up day one of the Bearcat Invitational Friday night inside Hughes Fieldhouse at Northwest Missouri State.

Freshman Madison Nash had the best individual finish for the Griffons as she placed fourth in the 5000 meter run with a time of 18:11.61.  It's just the second time Nash has run the 5000, but she beat her previous best by nearly a minute as she ran 19:07.20 at Northwest on January 22.

Lynzi Miller finished sixth in the pentathlon with 3161 points, and both Missouri Western distance medley relay teams placed fourth.  The women finished with a time of 12:28.82 and the men ran a 10:40.22, which were both season bests.

The Bearcat Invitational will continue Friday in Maryville.  The men will finish their heptathlon Saturday morning and then the first event on the track after that will be the 60m hurdle prelims at 12:30 p.m.  The first field events on Saturday will begin at 12:00 p.m. with the both the men's and women's long jump, women's high jump, men's weight throw and women's shot put.

Fans will not be allowed to attend the Bearcat Invitational, but a live stream of all the meet will be provided on The MIAA Network and live results will be available courtesy of Black Squirrel Timing.  You click on the link above.
