MWSU lacrosse picked to finish 6th in the GLVC

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) announced its 2021 women's lacrosse preseason coaches' poll on Thursday and Missouri Western is picked to finish sixth out of eight teams in its inaugural season.

Lindenwood is the preseason favorite to win the GLVC as they received 47 total points and five first-place votes.  Indianapolis is a close second with 45 points and three first-place votes.  Those two are followed by McKendree, Rockhurst, Lewis, MWSU, Maryville and Quincy.

Missouri Western is competing as an association member of the GLVC as the Griffons are the first MIAA institution and first state school in Missouri to sponsor the sport.  Women's Lacrosse became the 23rd sponsored sport by the GLVC last season.

Head coach Rachel Benzing and the Griffons will begin their inaugural season later this month.  Missouri Western will have two scrimmages at Ottawa (Feb. 12) and at Benedictine (Feb. 15) before they open the regular season at home inside Spratt Stadium on February 26 against Culver-Stockton.
