MIAA CHAMPIONSHIPS – FIRST ROUND

ST. JOSEPH – Griffon Soccer (12-6, 7-4 MIAA) will travel to Fort Hays State (10-6-2, 8-3 MIAA) on Wednesday for the first round of the MIAA Championships. The MIAA announced Sunday afternoon that the Griffons earned the No. 5 seed in the postseason tournament.
5 THINGS TO WATCH
- The Griffons will be looking to avenge their 2-1 at Fort Hays State earlier this season. Missouri Western was held scoreless until Claire Meyers put the Griffons on the board with 12 seconds left in the game.
- Fort Hays State enters the postseason playing its best soccer of the season. The Tigers have won five-straight and eight of their last nine games.
- The Griffons have responded well from losses all season and have not lost back-to-back games this year.
- The Griffons have also proven to be a good road team and have a .636 winning percentage on the road.
- Missouri Western and Fort Hays State are fifth and sixth in the MIAA in goals per game.

- Missouri Western allowed a season-low five shots in their 1-0 victory over Northwest Missouri on Senior Night.
- The Griffons lost 4-0 to Central Missouri on the road on Sunday.

- The Tigers beat Nebraska-Kearney 2-1 in overtime on the road.
- On Sunday, the Tigers hosted Washburn and won 1-0.
