ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Missouri Western earned a 7-2 victory over MIAA opponent Fort Hays State. This is the Griffons second MIAA victory of the season which already surpasses their conference win total from a year ago.

The Griffons found success in doubles matches winning all three. Sarah Giraldo and Yasmine El Ghazi dominated their opponent, winning in the No. 1 spot, 8-2. The Griffons' Denise Chiao and Kayla Dysart finished out the doubles matches with a 9-7 victory.

Missouri Western claimed four of the six singles matches to help seal the victory. The Griffons only losses came in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. Meara Smith was strong in her match, winning 6-1, 7-6, (7-3).  In the No. 4 spot, Yasmine El Ghazi beat her opponent 6-1 and 6-0.

Missouri Western will be back in action Sunday, March 22 starting at 2 p.m. to finish out their three-game home stand before heading back on the road to face Washburn on March 24.
