Biography

Outlook: Will battle for one of the top three positions in the Griffons lineup next season...talented player that continues to get better.

2014-15 season: Finished with a 6-7 record in singles play, going 2-1 at No. 3, 2-2 at No. 4 and 2-4 at No. 5...was part of three diffent doubles teams that combined to go 12-5.

2014 season: Played in all 15 matches for the Griffons going 2-12...she was 1-10 at No. 3 singles and 1-2 at No. 4...she went 2-7 in MIAA play defeating Katie Hipp of Fort Hays State and Ashley Roling of Lincoln...in doubles competition her and Lindsay Beger went 6-9 at No. 2 doubles...they went 5-5 in their last ten and 3-7 in MIAA play...MIAA Academic Honor Roll (3.0 cumulative GPA).

2013 season: Played in 21 out of 22 matches...won seven singles matches and another three matches in doubles with Meara Smith...won a 2-1 split against Emporia State's Taylor Smith, dropping the first set 6-2 before winning the next two 6-2, 6-1...won 14 total sets...was mostly used as a No. 2 but played the No. 1 position seven times, including a win against Baker's Danielle Griggs 6-3, 6-3...MIAA Academic Honor Roll (3.0 cumulative GPA).

High School: Played her high school tennis at Notre Dame de Sion high school....played all four years for her high school team leading them to a state championship.

Personal: Daughter of David and Sukwan Chiao...The person that has had the greatest impact on her athletic career is her brother Darren who played tennis at UMKC...She is also a solid student who plans on majoring in graphic design...her favorite food is sushi...favorite candy is twizzlers...favorite professional athletes are Kim Clijsters and Li Na...one word to describe Denise is smiley...favorite television show is Pretty Little Liars and The Walking Dead...pregame ritual is listening to "Eye of the Tiger."
