ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Griffon women's golf team is set to travel to Andover, Kansas, as MoWest looks to build on its fifth-place finish in Joplin last week.

The Griffon women will compete in the MIAA Fall Designated Event, hosted by Newman University, on Sept. 21–22 at Terradyne Country Club in Andover, Kansas. This week's lineup will feature Emma Spurlin, Avery Wells, Makenna Casey, Raleigh Puzio, Cydney Beckmann and Kylie Ellegood. The final lineup will be set following the practice round and will include one individual.

Last Time Out

MoWest finished fifth out of nine teams at the MSSU Fall Invitational, posting a 36-hole score of 629 (+53). The Griffons improved by 11 strokes in the final round, following an opening-round 320 (+32) with a 309 (+21).

Raleigh Puzio led the Griffon lineup, climbing 26 spots in the final round to finish tied for eighth at 9-over 153. Puzio fired a 1-under 71 in the final round, improving 11 strokes from her opening-round 82.

Emma Spurlin also tied for eighth while competing as an individual, finishing at 9-over 153 with rounds of 78 and 75. Spurlin highlighted her final round with an eagle on the par-5 seventh.

Makenna Casey finished at 14-over 158 after posting matching rounds of 79, while Avery Wells finished one stroke behind at 15-over 159 with rounds of 78 and 81. Cydney Beckmann made a 10-stroke improvement in the final round, closing with a 6-over 78 after an opening-round 88.

What's Next

The MoWest women will take a week off from competition before returning to action at the Grace Shin Invitational in Edmond, Oklahoma, on Oct. 5–6.

The MoWest men's golf team will return to action at the MWSU Holiday Inn Express Invitational at St. Joseph Country Club on Sept. 28–29.
