KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Griffon Softball (32-17, 11-13 MIAA) is the No. 9 seed in the MIAA tournament and will face No. 8 seed Washburn (35-18, 12-12 MIAA) in the first round on Wednesday, May 6 at 3 p.m. at the Trusler Sports Complex in Emporia, Kansas.

Should the Griffons win, they would face No. 1 seed Missouri Southern (45-7, 20-4 MIAA) in quarterfinals on Thursday, May 7 at 11 a.m. Semifinals are Friday, May 8 with the championship on Saturday, May 9 at 12 p.m.

MoWest ended the regular season on a seven-game winning streak, winning eight of their last nine games overall. The Griffons this season raced out to a 20-5 start - the best start in program history.

The Griffons have never missed an MIAA softball tournament with the first one being played in 2001. MoWest looks to get back to the MIAA championship game for the first time since 2019.

MWSU owns MIAA tournament championships in 2014 and 2016.
