ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - MoWest will begin a national search for its eighth softball coach in program history.
Nicole Thompson is stepping down to become the next head coach the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky. The job also opens the door for Thompson's husband, JT to return to the coaching ranks as well. He will join Cumberlands as the assistant softball coach. The move puts the Thompsons closer to family in the area.
In two seasons guiding the Griffons, Thompson amassed a 64-39 overall record and a 23-25 mark in The MIAA.

Andy Carter, the entire athletic administration and all of Griffon Nation for welcoming and supporting my family here. I will chrish the memories I made leading a great group of women and a program so rich in tradition."

The search for Griffon Softball's next head coach will begin immediately.
