ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Griffon Lacrosse (8-7, 4-3 GLVC) wrapped up Senior Day with a 16-10 victory over Lewis (7-9, 1-6 GLVC) Sunday afternoon at Spratt Stadium.

MoWest set the tone early and never looked back, using a five-goal first quarter to take control. Madi Brinkman opened the scoring off an assist from Maddie Chidester, sparking an early run that also included goals from Ryann Durrett and Clare Sondrall. Brooke Tjernlund added a late goal in the period as the Griffons led 5-3 after one.

The Griffons kept the pressure on in the second quarter, with Olivia Fornelli, Caetryn Gilreath, Maleah Sosa, Serah Ryals and Sondrall all finding the net to extend the lead to 11-5 at halftime.

Lewis responded in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to four, but MoWest answered late in the period to maintain control and carried a 13-8 lead into the fourth after another goal from Chidester.

In the final quarter, the Griffons sealed the win with goals from Sosa and Callie Faragher, stretching the margin to as many as six before closing out the 16-10 result.

In goal, Ava Garaway earned the win, playing 57:46 with seven saves, while Anna Raumschuh added two saves over the final 2:14 to help secure the result.

The victory capped a memorable Senior Day as the program honored Callie Faragher, Jordan Porter, Jessica Brook, Brinley Willenbrock, Maleah Sosa, Brooke Tjernlund, Zoe Kunick, Anna Raumschuh, Serah Ryals and Caetryn Gilreath following the match.

What's Next
The No. 4 seed Griffons will travel to face No. 1 seed Indianapolis Greyhounds women's lacrosse on May 1 in the opening round of the GLVC Tournament in Indianapolis, Indiana. Game time is still to be determined.
