Tennis continues homestand with pair of MIAA matchups

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Griffon Tennis (10-2, 1-0 MIAA) continues its homestand this week with a pair of conference matchups at Genesis Health Club.

MWSU opens play on April 2 at 9 a.m. against Arkansas-Fort Smith (2-10, 0-2 MIAA) before returning to the court April 3 at 9 a.m. to face Northeastern State (8-4, 1-0 MIAA). Both contests are MIAA matchups as the Griffons look to build on their strong start in conference play.

The Griffons enter the week riding an eight-match winning streak and hold a 1-0 mark in league action following a 6-1 victory over Nebraska Kearney. MWSU is also coming off a dominant 4-0 sweep of Southwest Baptist in its most recent outing. During the streak, the Griffons have controlled matches with strong doubles play to create early momentum while consistently finishing in singles competition.

The No. 1 doubles team of Alejandra Ramirez Botella and Jevrosima Mitic has been a key factor in that success, earning a No. 44 ranking in the ITA Division II women's rankings while posting a 7-2 record this season. The pair has played a major role in securing the doubles point and setting the tone throughout the win streak.
