WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Griffon Baseball (8-10, 3-5 MIAA) split Saturday's series opening doubleheader against No. 4 Central Missouri (16-3, 7-1 MIAA) at Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field.
Game 1: MoWest 10 No. 4 Central Missouri 3
MoWest struck first in the second inning when
Seth Winkler lifted a sacrifice fly to right field that scored
Luke Shannahan for the game's first run. The Griffons added another in the third as
Luke Parmentier launched a solo home run to left field to extend the lead to 2-0.
Central Missouri answered in the third inning with two runs to tie the game at 2-2.
MWSU regained the lead in the fourth inning when Shannahan hit a solo home run to right field to put the Griffons back in front 3-2. Central Missouri tied the game again in the sixth inning when a run scored on a passed ball, making it 3-3.
The Griffons broke the game open in the eighth inning.
Micah Kobuszewski delivered an RBI single through the right side to score Issac Sobieszcyk and give MWSU a 4-3 lead. David De Hoyos followed with a two-run home run to left field, and Shannahan added his second home run of the day with a solo shot to center field to extend the lead to 7-3.
MWSU added three more runs in the ninth inning when Parmentier blasted a three-run home run to left field to push the lead to 10-3.
Cole Evans earned the win on the mound, improving to 4-1 after tossing 6.1 innings while allowing three runs (two earned).
Lawson Minshew provided 1.2 scoreless innings of relief, and
Jacob Ross closed the game with a scoreless ninth inning.
Game 2: MoWest 0 No. 4 Central Missouri 16
MWSU struggled to generate offense in game two of the doubleheader as Central Missouri freshman pitcher Gavin Williams recorded the ninth no-hitter in UCM baseball history. Williams allowed no earned runs and no hits while striking out a career-high 11 batters and issuing just two walks on 101 pitches, leading UCM to a 16-0 seven-inning run-rule victory.

Griffon Baseball wraps up the three-game series Sunday afternoon in Warrensburg with the rubber match against No. 4 Central Missouri. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. in MIAA action.
