PITTSBURG, Kan. - Griffon Men's Golf finished seventh out of 18 teams in the Tommy Riggs Collegiate Invitational at Crestwood Country Club in Pittsburg.
MoWest shot a team score of 305 (+17) in the third and final round Tuesday for a total score of 920 (+56). The Griffons finished 30 strokes back of tournament winner Central Oklahoma, but just five strokes behind fifth place team and host school Pittsburg State.
Bennett Berger and
Aiden Asby led the Griffs on the leaderboard, as they tied for 19th with a total of 229 (+13). Berger's final round was his best, as she shot a 75 (+3) Tuesday. He birdied three holes in the final round. Asby birdied twice in the front nine Tuesday as well.
Parker Boggins tied for 34th with a 232 (+16). He birdied holes 2 and 15 Tuesday.
Parker Bunting finished tied for 43rd with a 234 (+18). He was three shots better in his third round, birdying on 7 and 17 Tuesday.
Tim Johnston tied for 83rd with a score of 245 (+29). Johnston improved by seven strokes between his second and third round, biryding on 4 and 17 Tuesday.
Men's golf is back in action April 6-7 at the Firekeeper Open at Firekeeper Golf Course and Resort in Mayetta, Kansas.
