MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Griffon Tennis moved to 8-2 on the season and extended its winning streak to six matches with a 4-0 victory over Southern Arkansas on Tuesday afternoon at the Live Oak Tennis Courts, completing a 3-0 Southern sweep.
MWSU secured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. The top pairing of Jevrosima Mitic and Alejandra Ramirez Botella earned a 7-6 (7-3) victory, while Cristina Granero Boj and Ella Gates added a 6-2 win at No. 3.
In singles play, the Griffons picked up three victories to clinch the match. Jevrosima Mitic led the way at No. 3 with a straight-set win, 6-1, 6-2, while Alejandra Ramirez Botella secured a 6-2, 6-3 decision at No. 5. Ella Gates added another point with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6.
Matches at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 singles went unfinished as the Griffons secured the team victory.

Griffon Tennis opens MIAA play on the road, beginning with a matchup at Fort Hays State on Saturday, March 28 at 2 p.m. in Hays, Kansas. MWSU will then continue conference action on Sunday, March 29, traveling to Nebraska-Kearney for an 11 a.m. first serve in Kearney, Nebraska.
