KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its Athletes of the Week from the second week of the 2026 baseball season, with Griffon Baseball's
Cole Evans earning MIAA Pitcher of the Week honors.
Evans becomes the first honoree of the season for Griffon Baseball for MIAA Pitcher of the Week.
Evans earned the start in game two of Griffon Baseball's home-opening series against Concordia–St. Paul and delivered a dominant outing, leading the Griffons to a 7–0 victory over the Golden Bears.
The junior tossed a complete game, going nine scoreless innings while allowing just one hit, striking out 11 batters, and issuing two walks on 102 pitches.
Griffon Baseball remains at home this weekend, hosting St. Cloud State for a three-game series at the MWSU Spring Sports Complex. The series opens Friday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m., continues Saturday at 1 p.m., and concludes Sunday with a noon first pitch in St. Joseph.
