ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Griffon Lacrosse opens its sixth season in program history Friday, traveling to Liberty, Missouri, for a 5 p.m. season opener against William Jewell College.

Friday's matchup will not count toward the GLVC standings, as the two teams are scheduled to meet again April 10 at 5 p.m. in St. Joseph in a contest that will officially count toward conference play. The Griffons claimed last year's meeting in Liberty with an 11-10 victory over the Cardinals on April 13.

Following the opener, MoWest will make its first trip to Colorado this season, heading to Grand Junction for matchups against Westminster, Colorado Mesa University, and Fort Lewis College.

The Griffons' home opener is set for Sunday, March 1, at 1 p.m. at Spratt Stadium, where they will host Concordia University–St. Paul.

MoWest enters the 2026 campaign with momentum after being selected fourth in the GLVC Women's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Griffons totaled 31 points in the poll, finishing six points behind Rockhurst and 13 points ahead of Lewis. They are coming off a strong 2025 season that included a 9-8 overall record, a 4-3 mark in GLVC play, and the No. 4 seed in the GLVC Championship.

Head coach Jessica Berg enters her fifth season leading the program. The Griffons return Second Team All-GLVC honoree Caetryn Gilreath, along with Honorable Mention selections Jordan Porter, Maleah Sosa, and Ava Garaway, providing an experienced core as MoWest looks to build on last year's success.
